International manager is backing £52m Chelsea player to be their next big star

With the international break just a few days away now, expect a plethora of Chelsea players to jet off and represent their countries.

There is always an eye on the typically-physical nature of South American football, and whether Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo can return in good condition to play the next Premier League game.

Enzo Maresca will be keeping a close eye on the fitness of his players, but also the performances of some of those who have not yet been regulars in his side.

The high-level displays being put into Premier League games right now has made it very difficult for anyone to break in, even if they are doing all they can in the minutes they get.

One of the players this certainly fits the bill for is Christopher Nkunku, who has got off to a great start to the season as far as scoring goals goes.

France backing Christopher Nkunku to be their new star

Despite being ousted by Nicolas Jackson up to now, the Frenchman’s performances have seen him recalled to the international side, which is without Antoine Greizmann after his retirement.

According to RMC Sport, Didier Deschamps is a huge fan of the Chelsea man, and the France setup see him as the heir to Griezmann’s throne at international level.

Nkunku to start tonight for Chelsea

Nkunku is likely to start tonight for Chelsea in the Conference League when they get their group stage campaign underway against Gent at Stamford Bridge.

There will be an eye on the £52m man to step up as one of their top performers in this competition, with it already being known that Cole Palmer will not be in action during the group stages.

The player himself will be seeing it as an opportunity to make it impossible for Maresca to continue to leave him out of the starting squad, with that decision already being a pretty difficult one.
