Micah Richards has now claimed that two Chelsea players look as if they are struggling to play alongside each other right now.

He told ‘The Monday Night Club’ that he believes both Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo look as if they have no idea what they are doing next to each other in midfield at the moment.

Fernandez and Caicedo have established themselves as the go to pair in the middle of the park right now, with that perhaps being expected given the fees that have been spent on them in the last two transfer windows.

However, many have been left with the feeling that there is something missing from the duo, and that they could be bringing a lot more to the table.

Rotation opportunities have been hard to come by for the two South Americans this season, with a number of injuries in that position.

Romeo Lavia also joined over the summer, however is yet to be seen following an issue he picked up just weeks after joining.

Richards concerned at Caicedo and Fernandez

Richards has now claimed that he still has questions over the starting midfield pairing at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “With Enzo and Caicedo in midfield at times it doesn’t look like they know what to do. Are they both going? Who is the defensive one? Fernandez wants to play a little bit more offensively, leaving big gaps in midfield.

“Well, they have Lavia as well, so I don’t say no but I am saying what they are trying to do now [isn’t working]. The cohesion between defence and midfield isn’t working.”

It may be a case of waiting to see a number of the young options reach the level required for some competition in the position.

As well as current promising talent Lesley Ugochukwu, they have a number of players currently on loan who will be pushing for a place in the side soon.
