This season has been a really difficult one for Chelsea.

They recently lost the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool and are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Nevertheless, Conor Gallagher has told Sky Sports that he is really enjoying playing under Mauricio Pochettino.

The above comes as no surprise, as Gallagher has really thrived at Chelsea since Pochettino’s appointment as Blues boss.

The midfielder has made 24 starts in the Premier League this season, missing just one of his side’s games so far, and scored two goals.

Conor Gallagher happy with life under Mauricio Pochettino

With the way the team have performed in the current campaign, some Chelsea fans may not be happy with Pochettino.

However, Gallagher says he is loving playing under the Argentine.

“Obviously there’s another year and a half left of my contract and I absolutely love playing with the manager,” the 24-year-old said. “Playing almost every game, it’s been incredible. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Last season I was in and out the team and it wasn’t as enjoyable for that reason and also not playing great when I was.

“I just want to keep playing as much as I can for Chelsea, keep trying to improve the club and try and be successful at Chelsea because that’s the plan for sure.”

It is quite clear that Pochettino is also delighted to be working with Gallagher. He has used him in practically every Premier League game this term and given him the captain’s armband in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

The problem for Pochettino is that Gallagher may not actually be here for much longer. His contract runs out in 2025, meaning that Chelsea may have to sell the Englishman in the summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

That being said, Pochettino himself may not be at the club next season. Following the League Cup final loss, it has been claimed that Chelsea are now considering potential candidates to replace the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss.

Today’s game against Leeds United in the FA Cup is certainly a big one for him.
