Given the magnitude of signings Chelsea are set to make at the end of the season, it can be argued that some players are already fighting for their future at the club.

The Blues are set to add Estevao Willian to their first team squad, while there is a chance Kendry Paez remains with the side too as he trains at Cobham until his move is made official.

Reports have already claimed they are keen on adding a new winger to their ranks, with the current crop clearly not meeting the required standards.

Make or break time for Pedro Neto at Chelsea

The Blues added Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto to their side over the summer, with Jamie Carragher predicting Neto would be the signing of the window.

Up to now, he has just two Premier League goals to his name, and while he has avoided injuries that have plagued his career up to now, more was expected of him following his big-money addition.

There have certainly been moments for fans to get excited about. Jason Cundy described Neto as ‘brilliant’ back in December.

The Portugal international has been competing for minutes with Noni Madueke on the right wing this season, however now he has a real chance to make his mark with regular starts.

Madueke is set to miss a number of weeks due to an injury picked up early in the Premier League game against Brighton, leaving Neto as the standalone choice to play right wing.

However, his influence on the attack could be about to change given the other injury woes Enzo Maresca is dealing with right now.

New role for Pedro Neto?

The Blues are without a recognised first team striker at the moment due to injuries for Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu.

With the Christopher Nkunku experiment very clearly not working, there could be an appetite to play a winger down the middle.

Chelsea fans have called for Neto to start up front, and even though Madueke is injured there is a chance for Cole Palmer to return to the position he starred in last season.

Whether it’s on the right or down the middle, Neto is set for a few weeks in a row where he starts, and these could be crucial in proving he has the credentials to remain at Chelsea going forwards.
