Jadon Sancho was definitely one of Chelsea’s better players in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace over the weekend.
It was actually Jadon Sancho who set up Cole Palmer’s goal with a lovely assist in the first half.
Crystal Palace were able to exploit Sancho when Chelsea had to defend, according to their manager Oliver Glasner, but Sancho played well overall.
Nicolas Jackson, in contrast, has had better games and has now scored just once in his last six outings after failing to register at Selhurst Park. However, the squad are trying to make things easier for the striker and the other attackers.

Chelsea practising creating chances in training
The goals have stopped flowing in for Chelsea, which can probably be linked back to Jackson’s dip in form.
In their last four Premier League games, Enzo Maresca‘s men have scored just two. Compare that to their four fixtures before that, and it is a huge drop-off.
| Chelsea’s last eight Premier League fixtures | Goals scored |
| Last four games against Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Fulham and Everton | 4 |
| Preceding four games against Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Aston Villa | 16 |
According to Sancho, though, Chelsea have been working on putting Jackson and the team’s other attackers, including himself, in better goalscoring positions.
In a recent interview, which has been relayed by Chelsea’s official website, the winger said: “We work on the training ground to give Nico, Cole, Pedro [Neto] and me the opportunities to get shots on goal.
“We created good chances, we just have to be more clinical. If you don’t take your chances in the Premier League, it’s never over until the last minute.”
Sancho’s assist against Palace was his sixth for Chelsea, meaning that he has already matched his tally at Manchester United in 68 fewer games.

Enzo Maresca should consider dropping Nicolas Jackson
While Sancho deserves his spot in the Chelsea starting XI right now, you could not blame Maresca for benching Jackson for a couple of games.
Christopher Nkunku probably blew his chance against Ipswich Town, but Marc Guiu arguably deserves a shot.
Guiu works so hard when he is given an opportunity, pressing so aggressively in the opposition’s half, while the 19-year-old has also shown that he can finish.
One of his goals against Astana in the Conference League, for example, was a very good one. Maresca will probably not drop Jackson; he is a huge fan of the player. But after a solid start to the season, the Senegal international needs to raise his game now after this dip of form.
