Jamie Carragher has claimed he would love Liverpool to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.

Blues fans are nervously waiting to see what’s in store for the future of Mason Mount, 24, because his contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

The Daily Mail has claimed this week Chelsea value Mount at £85million amid interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal. They add that Manchester United are interested in a £55million swoop for the attacking midfielder, too.

Pundit and former Liverpool star Carragher has explained he would really like Mount at Anfield next season.

“Mason Mount is a funny one in that people always seem a little bit down on him for whatever reason. I’ve never got it, I’m a huge fan. He’s a Champions League winner. I really like him,” Carragher told This Is Anfield.

“He’s got energy to press, he’d provide a greater goal threat from midfield than we have from Jordan Henderson] in that position right now.

“If we brought Alexis] Mac Allister and Mason Mount in I’d be delighted with that.”

Incidentally, The Guardian said earlier this month that Liverpool are favourites to sign Mount

We believe that Mount would be a big hit at Liverpool. In fact, he could make a difference at any top side across Europe.

Yes, he’s had a drop off in his levels in the 2022/23 season. It would be foolish to forget just how much he’s achieved in the previous years as a key first-team Chelsea player, though.

We hope to see Chelsea and Mount come to some sort of agreement in the near future to lock down his future in West London.

It would be extremely painful to have to watch him grow and do well at a Premier League rival, especially at Liverpool.
