Jason Cundy thinks he’s spotted a pattern emerging with Chelsea under Enzo Maresca this season.

In general, Chelsea have made a fairly positive start to the 2024/25 campaign.

The Blues secured a 4-1 victory over Panathinaikos on Thursday in the Conference League group stages. As a result, they’ve recorded eight wins from their opening 13 games of the season across all competitions.

Enzo Maresca has definitely stamped his authority on his team during the opening months of his reign in charge. He’s proven that he’s prepared to be quite honest with his opinions, too.

Speaking via Football.London this week, Maresca admitted he “expected more” from Reece James as a leader.

Jason Cundy notices Enzo Maresca influence

TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy reacted to Chelsea’s away win in Europe over Panathinaikos by giving credit to the management.

The former Blues defender believes that the team definitely looks like a much better coached side this season under Maresca.

Cundy said on talkSPORT (6:15am, 25 October): “You can only beat what’s it front of you. I’ll tell you what you can see, we’re well coached. That is something that is becoming more and more obvious how well coached we are.”

Enzo Maresca off to quick start

There’s no doubt that Maresca needed a positive start to his time at Stamford Bridge because there were a few eyebrows raised when he was appointed. In fairness, the Italian head coach is taking charge of a Premier League club for the first time ever.
