Jason Cundy says Chelsea won’t miss Andreas Christensen when looking ahead to his potential exit this summer.

Christensen, 26, has been on the books at Stamford Bridge for a decade. It does look like the Blues defender may be leaving imminently, though.

First of all, the centre-back’s current deal will expire at the end of the season to make him a free agent. In addition, it was reported last month that Barcelona have all-but agreed to sign him on a free transfer in the summer window.

Pundit and ex-Chelsea player Cundy suggests his former club will manage to cope without Christensen in their ranks next season.

“Christensen, I don’t think is a massive, massive loss,” Cundy told talkSPORT.

“He never really fulfilled his [potential]… He had a great period, and he’s been brilliant for us when he’s comes in, he came on in the Champions League final when Thiago Silva got taken off.”

However, some may argue the Blues will be in a defensive mess next year.

With Chelsea centre-half Antonio Rudiger leaving in the summer, it’s going to leave manager Thomas Tuchel with a sizeable job on his hands.

Christensen not appreciated

Yes, Christensen not at the very top table in terms of centre-backs in Europe right now.

You could easily put the Denmark international just below that tier when he’s performing at his very best, though.

Aged 26, it won’t be a surprise to go watch him have a stellar career in Spain with Barcelona.

There’s been some memorable performances for him in a Blues shirt, so he should be remembered very fondly if he’s playing his last few games for the club. Of course, last season’s Champions League final is the real standout.
