Joao Felix picks the Chelsea legend he’d most like to play alongside

Joao Felix re-signed for Chelsea in the summer, this time on a permanent basis, but he’s still waiting to really cement his spot at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues surprised plenty of people back in August when they purchased Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid in a £45m deal.

So far, Felix has struggled with the incredible competition for places in the Chelsea squad. It’s quite remarkable that the 25-year-old attacker still hasn’t started a single Premier League match this season.

Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea manager, is mainly using the Portugal international in cup competitions. Maresca admits he’d love to play Felix more in the league, though.

Joao Felix acknowledges Chelsea legend John Terry

Felix has named Chelsea icon John Terry as the player from Blues history that he’s most like to play with.

The retired 43-year-old defender is a true great around Stamford Bridge, playing 717 first-team games for the club and winning 15 major trophies.

When asked to pick one former Chelsea player to play alongside, Felix responded via Instagram: “John Terry. I remember him when he played and he’s a legend of the club. I would like to play with him because everything he knows and the experience that he could teach us, I think would be nice.”

The career and numbers speak for themselves with the former Chelsea captain, but it’s the respect from fellow professionals that holds a lot of weight.

Wayne Rooney named Terry as his most difficult opponent after facing the centre-back in numerous battles during Manchester United versus Chelsea showdowns. Similarly, Peter Crouch called Terry his toughest ever opponent.

Can Joao Felix break into Chelsea’s XI?

There’s so much to admire about Felix as a player on the football pitch, but it’s so difficult for him to get into Chelsea’s side because teammate Cole Palmer is his competition for the starting No.10 role.
