It’s been a dream start for Chelsea’s Joao Pedro since he joined from Brighton.
First of all, Joao Pedro starred as the Blues won the Club World Cup tournament in the summer. The 23-year-old attacker has followed it up with a rapid start in the new Premier League campaign, too.
So far this season, the Brazil international has been a standout performer for Enzo Maresca’s side, both as a No.9 and a No.10.
| Fixture | Date | Minutes played | Goals | Assists |
| Chelsea 0-0 Crystal Palace | 17 August | 73 | 0 | 0 |
| West Ham 1-5 Chelsea | 22 August | 90 | 1 | 2 |
| Chelsea 2-0 Fulham | 30 August | 90 | 1 | 0 |
Daniel Sturridge loves Chelsea’s transfer for Pedro, claiming he will score plenty of goals for them this season.
Even though he’s got plenty of experience in English football with Brighton and Watford, it’s a major step up with Chelsea. He’s made it look pretty effortless so far, though.

The fact that Chelsea’s summer signing has been immediately nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month highlights just how good he’s been. We would pick him as the winner, too!
Rio Ferdinand’s reaction to Pedro at Chelsea is that his £60m deal is the best value signing from the summer window.

Joao Pedro has a chance to match Diego Costa achievement
If Pedro wins the individual award, he will become the first Chelsea player since Diego Costa to win the Premier League Player of the Month prize in their first month at Stamford Bridge.
Back in August 2014, Costa picked up the prize because of his incredible start to life in West London.
The powerhouse striker, who played for the Blues between 2014 and 2017, was unbelievable during his first month in English football.
| Fixture | Date | Minutes played | Goals | Assists |
| Burnley 1-3 Chelsea | 18 August | 90 | 1 | 0 |
| Chelsea 2-0 Leicester City | 23 August | 80 | 1 | 0 |
| Everton 3-6 Chelsea | 30 August | 90 | 2 | 0 |
The early signs are that Pedro could be Chelsea’s best forward since Costa, who won the Premier League during his first season at the club.
