Joao Pedro explains why he already has fantastic relationship with Cole Palmer at Chelsea

Joao Pedro has not been at Chelsea for long, but the forward has already struck up an effective partnership with Cole Palmer.

It was Palmer who set up Pedro in the Club World Cup final last weekend, with the Brazilian scoring the Blues’ third goal against Paris Saint-Germain.

Earlier in the game, Palmer nearly found the back of the net after a nice lay off from his teammate, so the two really are working well together at the moment.

While Palmer could not convert that chance, the attacking midfielder did eventually manage to get his name on the scoresheet, bagging a brace as Chelsea went on to win 3-0. After the game, Palmer was praised by Robert Sanchez, who described him as “the best in the world”.

Cole Palmer helping Joao Pedro in training

Palmer and Pedro were two of Chelsea’s best players at the Club World Cup, scoring three goals each.

The former’s impact is not too surprising after what he has shown at Chelsea over the last two seasons, but the latter has shocked many.

Pedro only linked up with Enzo Maresca‘s side at the start of the month after signing from Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has managed to make an immediate impact and strike up a partnership with Palmer after receiving help from his teammate in training.

“Cole is that player who is decisive, and he’s been very good to me from the start here at Chelsea, in such a short time,” Pedro was quoted as saying by BBC Sport after the Club World Cup final.

“He’s always been able to help me in training, where we’ve been trying to understand each other better so we can work together on the field, and today [Sunday], thank God it worked in such an important match.”

The 23-year-old has not been at Chelsea for long, but he has already proven that he can do it in the big games. Former Blue Andy Townsend recently discussed Pedro’s impact, claiming that his teammates already trust him.

What Joao Pedro did straight after Club World Cup final win

Following Chelsea’s Club World Cup success, Pedro made sure not to forget about his mother, with the Brazil international calling her straight after the game.

“My family means everything to me, especially my mother, because I had difficult moments at the beginning of my career and she was there for me,” Pedro shared.

“So the first thing I did when I got to the team room was call her, because she’s very important to me. I know how happy she is with this title.”

His heroics in the US are something that the two will remember for a long time, while Chelsea supporters will not forget about them either.
