Chelsea fans are beginning to celebrate confirmation that Joao Pedro is their player.
The Blues announced on Wednesday afternoon that they have completed the signing of Joao Pedro, 23, from Brighton.
He’s officially a Chelsea player, penning a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge that doesn’t expire until 2033.
Chelsea officials are confident about Pedro and believe the attacker can make an immediate impact at the club. In fairness, the Brazil international does arrive with some great experience in English football from his time with Brighton and Watford.

Joao Pedro shares conversation with Andrey Santos
During his first interview as a Chelsea player, Pedro has admitted that he spoke with fellow Brazilian Andrey Santos about the idea of joining him at Stamford Bridge. Now, the South American duo will be in the same Blues squad for the upcoming season.
Pedro said via Chelsea’s official website: “I was talking with Andrey (Santos) on Instagram. I asked about the guys, about the club, and he said good things about the team, so it’s good to join. When you join one club and you know one of the players, it make it easier for sure.”
Like Santos, Pedro faces a tough challenge ahead of him to break into Chelsea’s best XI. He certainly feels like a very exciting addition to the attacking crop, though.
The Blues had to fight off competition from Premier League rivals Newcastle United for his signature, too. It sounds like Santos may deserve a bit of credit for Pedro deciding to join Chelsea over Newcastle.
The Chelsea Chronicle previously reported that Chelsea caught Newcastle off guard to win the race for Pedro by launching a major £60m offer.
Newcastle fans were left frustrated Pedro opted for Chelsea because they would have loved him at St James’ Park.

Joao Pedro opens up on David Luiz relationship
In his first interview with Chelsea, Pedro also shared he’s got an existing relationship with former Blues defender David Luiz.
He explained: “I’m close a little bit to David Luiz. I spoke with him, not about Chelsea, but about my career and how I can develop better. And he helped me, you know.”
There is already a rich history of successful Brazilians at the football club with the likes of Luiz, Thiago Silva and Willian. Now it’s the Brazilian trio of Pedro, Santos and Estevao Willian that will try to emulate their success in West London next season.
