Joao Pedro has been discussing his relationship with Cole Palmer and why he was a bit frightened of his teammate after joining Chelsea.

Pedro arrived at Chelsea in July and is already proving to be a huge success for the club.

The striker has scored two goals in the Blues’ first three Premier League games this season, while he also netted three times in the Club World Cup.

Pedro was recently asked about his early success at Chelsea, putting it down to his teammates and the goals he scored in the US.

Joao Pedro feared Cole Palmer’s reaction to him being a big arrival

It is quite clear that Palmer is still Chelsea’s main man. You only have to look at his performance in the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain to know that.

At Brighton & Hove Albion, though, Pedro was the top dog, and the 23-year-old feared how Palmer would react to that kind of person joining his Chelsea side.

“Cole is a superstar,” Pedro told The Standard. “When I came to Chelsea I was a little bit scared about how he was going to react, because I was the main guy at Brighton. I knew Chelsea would be different. I said: ‘Cole, I’m here to help you.'”

In the end, everything has worked out well, with the two combining extremely well on the pitch.

It was Palmer who set up Pedro in the Club World Cup final as the Brazilian went on to grab Chelsea’s third goal against PSG.

The former Brighton star is currently with the Brazil national team, working under former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti recently discussed Pedro’s versatility, stating that it is “good” that he can play as a centre-forward and as a No.10.

Comparing Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike’s starts to the season

Pedro, who cost Chelsea £60m, was not the only striker who got a big-money move this summer. Liverpool signed Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for £79m, and both men have made great starts to the new Premier League campaign.

When it comes to goal contributions, though, Pedro just edges out his Liverpool rival.

All in all, then, Pedro has probably had the better start by a very small margin. If the Brazil international can maintain his form, he could be in with a shout for the Golden Boot award come the end of the season.
