Joe Cole claims one thing at Chelsea is worse than he’s ever seen at Stamford Bridge, ‘it’s really bad…’

Joe Cole has just made a worrying claim about what he’s seen at Chelsea recently.

At this moment, the pressure is building at Chelsea because the season is in danger of unravelling.

The Blues are currently sitting outside the Premier League’s top five positions, which will be enough to qualify for next year’s Champions League competition.

If Chelsea miss out on Champions League football for a third straight season, it’ll be the clearest sign of the club’s regression in recent years. Even though Enzo Maresca’s side have occupied a spot in the top four for the majority of the campaign, their form has massively dipped in 2025.

Back in December 2024, Chelsea fans chanted ‘We’ve got our Chelsea back’ because they were playing great football and were mentioned as possible league title challengers. However, that feel-good factor is a thing of the past.

Joe Cole claims he’s never seen the atmosphere this bad at Chelsea

Joe Cole, the former Chelsea star, claims the current atmosphere at Stamford Bridge is worse than he’s ever seen.

Cole told The Dressing Room Podcast: “I’ve been going to Chelsea since I was a boy. I played at the club, and now my boys go. I don’t think I’ve seen the atmosphere as bad as it is. It’s really bad.”

Following Chelsea’s 2-2 league draw at home to Ipswich Town last Sunday, Maresca criticised the environment at Stamford Bridge. The fanbase was understandably frustrated after dropping two crucial points against a side destined for relegation.

Gabriel Agbonlahor sympathises with angry Chelsea supporters that are fed up with the lethargic style of football in recent months.

A recent pattern is that the Blues have found it a lot more difficult to score in the Premier League.

Conference League success wouldn’t cover up Premier League failure

Chelsea are still competing for something in the Conference League and the Premier League in the remaining weeks of the season, but we think the latter is far more important.

Maresca’s side host Legia Warsaw on Thursday night in the second leg of the Conference League quarter-final clash, which they currently lead 3-0 on aggregate. On paper, the Blues are favourites to win the competition this season, which would make them the first club to win every European trophy.

However, it feels far more vital for the long-term success of Chelsea to get back in the Champions League after a two-year exile.

If the Blues want to keep their best stars and also sign top talents, they need the attraction of the Champions League.
