John Obi Mikel spots Enzo Fernandez is the only Chelsea player who screams on the pitch

John Obi Mikel has praised midfield star Enzo Fernandez, 24, for being the only Chelsea player he notices screaming at his teammates to motivate them.

He said on The Obi One Podcast: “We have to mention Fernandez as well, the revelation. He’s been absolutely fantastic this season. He plays now with so much [aggressiveness]. The way he runs into the box, he wants to score goals and create chances. I love the way Fernandez plays in this team now.

“He’s also becoming that leader that we want on the pitch… He’s that one player that I see that screams to other players when they’re not doing something right.”

Back in February, Jason Cundy mentioned Fernandez’s leadership because he spotted him growing into a real senior figure at Chelsea.

The Argentine star wears the captain’s armband when Reece James isn’t on the pitch. On top of that, we agree that he’s one of the few that barks instructions and is a vocal presence.

The good news for fans is that Fernandez is an important part of Chelsea’s plans because he’s only growing in stature at the football club with every performance.

Chelsea couldn’t live without Enzo Fernandez

At this moment in time, Fernandez is easily one of the most crucial players at Chelsea.

The South American midfielder has started in 19 of the previous 20 Premier League games for the Blues, only missing a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in January with a knock. What’s even more impressive is that he’s played every single minute in those appearances.

While his leadership and presence is being noticed, his improvement as an attacking threat is another big positive in the central midfielder’s game.

The trio of Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer operate at such a high level. On paper, it’s the start of a super team if they can fill in the pieces of the jigsaw around them.
