Chelsea have been fortunate enough to be blessed with quality players such as Frank Lampard in their time as one of the top clubs, John Obi Mikel believes there was an individual who was more important than him.
Lampard’s record as a Chelsea player needs very little introduction, with his position as top goalscorer in the club’s history still a long way from being beaten.
Lampard was praised as the best trainer at Chelsea during his time at the club, with him keen to set an example on the pitch as well as off it.
The England international was part of an elite group of players at Stamford Bridge over around a decade or so, including Petr Cech, Ashley Cole and John Terry.

John Obi Mikel says John Terry was more important to Chelsea than Frank Lampard
Terry is an inspiration for the academy at the club after breaking through the system, and going on to become one of the best players Chelsea have ever had.
Mikel was asked who he thinks out of the two was the most important on the Chelsea side, he struggled before finally giving the honour to Terry.
“Oh, more important. They both go about their business really, really differently. Frank is more, you know, more sort of a quiet leader. You know, he wants to show you what he wants from you on the pitch,” Mikel said.
“While JT is very, very vocal, very vocal. I think if you have to ask, obviously we always want our captain in the team.

“You know, JT was the guy who drives everybody. You have to be at your game. You have to be awake. You cannot be half asleep during games with JT. That doesn’t happen. You have to constantly be at your game. Otherwise, you’re going to get it. He’s going to come and grab you on the neck, grab you and say, “Wake the f up.” You know.”
“Super Frank was obviously very, very vital for us. scored important goal, big goals, won us big matches. They were both very important, but if I have to pick one, sorry, Super Frank, I’m going JT.”
Mikel as passionate as ever about Chelsea
Mikel remains a big fan of Chelsea, and has not been scared to voice his opinion on the current situation of the club.
Mikel has been wowed by Moises Caicedo of late, and was full of praise for the squad for their performance in the recent win against Liverpool.
However, he is not happy with everything that is going on. Mikel recently slammed Filip Jorgensen, and has been a long-term critic of Robert Sanchez between the sticks.
