John Obi Mikel has just delivered his verdict on the recent transfer rumours linking Chelsea with a potential move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho.
Man United winger Jadon Sancho, 24 has recently been linked with a possible transfer to Chelsea.
The Telegraph claimed at the weekend that Chelsea are considering a move for £40m-rated Sancho this week. However, it’s likely that the Englishman would need to take a big pay cut to make the transfer happen. There’s been a suggestion that Chelsea hope Man United would be keen on signing Raheem Sterling in a swap deal, too.

John Obi Mikel reacts to Jadon Sancho rumours
Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has claimed that he’d be delighted to see Sancho sign for the Blues during the final few days of the summer window.
He insisted on The Obi One Podcast that the 24-year-old Man United attacker is still a quality player.
When discussing Chelsea’s transfer links with Sancho, Mikel said: “If we can get him through the door at Chelsea, I’d be very, very happy. He’s a fantastic player…
“I think on that side of the pitch we’re very strong. Listen, if we can get a quality player like Jadon, of course you’d be happy to have him. If that happens, I’d be very happy.”
Should Chelsea sign Jadon Sancho?
In terms of Sancho the player, he’s currently a long way off the youngster that was once ripping it up in Dortmund. In fact, his last England cap was back in October 2021.
The dynamic wide player may need a permanent exit from Old Trafford to start fresh in his career, but we don’t think Chelsea feels like the right fit.
The reality is there’s already so many attacking options in Chelsea’s squad that there’s not much room for more. Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk, Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are all current options for the Blues to play in wide areas.
Chelsea could create unnecessary drama and headaches if they ramp up the Sancho interest in the next few days.
