John Obi Mikel thinks £32m Chelsea player is listening to his advice

Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has not been shy to let his feelings be known on the situation surrounding his former club.

The former midfielder has been quick to criticise when things have not been going well. Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile are two players who have been targeted at times.

Striker Nicolas Jackson is another player who has not escaped Mikel’s sights, with him commenting that he needs to work on his finishing in order to remain a Chelsea striker.

John Obi Mikel thinks Nicolas Jackson is taking his advice

The Senegal international bit back at the Nigerian earlier this season after he found the net, saying that he could be using his platform for a more positive use.

Following a brilliant performance and brace at the weekend for Jackson against West Ham, Mikel has stated that he believes the striker has been taking his advice on board all along.

He said on the Obi One Podcast: “It’s amazing to see that Nicolas Jackson is taking what I say on board and improving. People were telling me I’ve created a monster of a striker, that’s what I want. We have to improve and that’s exactly what he’s doing right now.”

Mikel wanted Victor Osimhen at Chelsea

It should be said that Mikel was a massive advocate for Chelsea signing Victor Osimhen over the summer, acting as somewhat of a mediator between the two parties over the summer.

The deal did not happen though, and instead the Blues are looking to put their faith in Jackson until at least the transfer window opens again.

Chelsea already believe he is worth way more than the £32m fee they signed him for, and he is keeping a number of top players out of the side at this stage.

The most notable example of this is Christopher Nkunku, who cannot find his way into the starting side at the moment despite scoring pretty much every time he is given the chance.
