John Obi Mikel had made it more than clear over the summer just who he thought Chelsea should make their number one transfer target.
He was a big advocate for the addition of Victor Osimhen, whose future at Napoli looks all but gone now.
The Blues had been linked with the Nigerian for some time, however it wasn’t until the final hours the window that they made a real move to sign him.

Chelsea walked away from signing Osimhen though after it seemed as if they couldn’t get the deal done on their terms.
Mikel has claimed that he was involved in trying to get the deal over the line, and has shared that some of the things he has heard about the wage demands in particular were way off the mark.
John Obi Mikel shares Victor Osimhen Chelsea details
He said on his ‘Obi One Podcast’: “Everybody knows that I was involved in the deal, I was involved in trying to make sure that make sure that I get Victor Osimhen to the club.
“Yeah, a lot happened. It was interesting because I think I hear a lot of people saying this and saying that about Victor and how greedy he is and stuff like that, blah, blah, blah. I just want to categorially say it here, you know, that I know the kid, I know the boy since from the very first day he joined the national team.
“My relationship with him has been very, very good, and since then we have kept in contact. We have been friends since then, of course. I know him, I know what he is capable of, and I just want to say that that is absolutely not true.
“Victor is not a greedy boy, he’s not a greedy guy, he only wants to get what he deserves, and that’s not a problem.”
It has been reported that Chelsea could well return to the scene of the potential signing in January, with the player currently on loan at Galatasaray.
Chelsea showing faith in Nicolas Jackson
Instead, it looks as the Blues are keen to back Nicolas Jackson for now at least, with him recently being rewarded with a new contract.
Jackson has begun to prove doubters wrong with his strong start to the season, and will feel he has done enough since his move to England to be the first choice striker at Stamford Bridge.
There are now an array of attacking options alongside him, however the connection he has formed with Cole Palmer is certainly something Chelsea fans can be excited by.
