Chelsea legend John Terry has now given his honest thoughts on Mauricio Pochettino as manager of the club.

He told John Obi Mikel’s official podcast that he believes the Argentine is doing an excellent job at Stamford Bridge since he took over before this season.

So far results on the pitch have not exactly set the world alight since Pochettino was given the job off the back of a terrible prior campaign.

This was capped off by the 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford at the weekend, leaving many wondering if much had actually changed from the time where Graham Potter and Frank Lampard were in charge.

To be fair to the current boss though, what has actually occurred on the pitch has offered signs of positivity that the Blues are going to enjoy a better season this time around.

Terry has always been vocal in his support for manager’s at the club, and this has now not changed with the hiring of Pochettino.

Terry on Pochettino

He said: “Since Poch came in he’s been excellent. Since my retirement he’s the only manager [not including Lampard] who’s put his arm round me and said ‘JT you come over here whenever you want’ and it’s the only time I’ve felt comfortable going into the first team building.

“The feeling and the buzz is back in the building under Pochettino. I’m enjoying my role in the academy. I watch a lot of their games and feedback to them and the coaches.”

Pochettino’s first opportunity to start to turn things around occurs tomorrow in the EFL Cup against Blackburn.

Despite the lower league opposition, the game provides the Blues a chance to book their place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, and get one step closer to a return to silverware.
