There is tentative confidence over the future of Chelsea after the decision was made to appoint their new manager, Liam Rosenior.
Enzo Maresca’s permanent successor will be in the stands for the West London derby, although it will be Calum McFarlane in charge of the first team to face Fulham.
Wayne Rooney has sung Rosenior’s praises after working with him previously at Derby County, and the new boss has already met the squad ahead of leading them into the FA Cup tie with Charlton.
Are YOU excited by Liam Rosenior’s appointment? 🔮
There will be pressure on the ownership to get this managerial appointment right. Rosenior is the fifth permanent manager already since Todd Boehly took over the ownership of the club.

John Terry tells Todd Boehly to back Liam Rosenior in the transfer market
The new manager said the timing of his arrival was not ideal, but the fact he has come in during a transfer window could be used as an advantage.
John Terry has told Boehly and co to make sure they back Rosenior in the market in order to give him the best possible chance of success at Stamford Bridge.
Who has been the worst signing of the Todd Boehly era at Chelsea? 👎
He said on his TikTok: “I’d like to wish him all the very best. You have an opportunity to come into the building. The players, everyone’s going to be looking from a football perspective, all about results.
“January transfer window coming up. Hopefully the board and the owners are going to back him and give him some money to go in the transfer market and bring some players in.”
Rosenior has reportedly asked for assurances in the January market as part of his talks before joining the club.

Boehly needs to learn from Maresca transfer mistakes
A list compiling every signing made by Chelsea when Maresca was in charge is not pretty reading considering the success he delivered to the club.
He was buoyed by the additions of Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro, however plenty will have hoped for more in the summer window after a return to Champions League football and Club World Cup triumph.
BlueCo are insistent that managers should be able to work with the squad they have been given at Stamford Bridge, but the message should be getting through that this has so far not been the case.
