Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has firmly shut down Chelsea’s interest in two players, even as the Spanish giants advance their pursuit of Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
Real Madrid have intensified their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, positioning the Argentine as a priority target on their summer transfer shortlist.
Following what appears to be an agreement with the player, the Spanish giants are prepared to test Chelsea’s resolve with a bid exceeding £100 million. Fernandez is reportedly keen on making the switch to the Bernabeu, though club-to-club negotiations remain in the early stages.
This comes immediately after former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho successfully raided Stamford Bridge to sign left-back Marc Cucurella.
But it doesn’t look as if he wants to be so generous with a couple of players that Chelsea want.
What should Chelsea do with Dastan Satpayev this summer? 🤔
Chelsea want to sign Aurelien Tchouameni and Dean Huijsen
Chelsea find themselves searching for a central defender and a central midfielder this summer, and it looks as if we now know two names in those positions.
According to Simon Phillips, Chelsea would love to sign both Aurelien Tchouameni and Dean Huijsen, but Jose Mourinho isn’t willing to see them leave.
“I know they’d love to have Tchouameni, but I don’t see that going forward. And the other players that are on this list that Chelsea have mentioned to them, obviously, Huijsen is one of them. And again, Chelsea would love to sign him, but I don’t think Jose wants to let him go.”
Reece James as a central midfielder or a right-back under Xabi Alonso?👀
The million pound question!
Chelsea should hold firm on Enzo Fernandez’s asking price
If Jose Mourinho refuses to make Chelsea’s preferred targets like Aurelien Tchouameni or Dean Huijsen available at all, then the Blues must stand completely firm on their £120 million valuation for Fernandez.
Real Madrid have made Enzo their absolute priority midfield target to drive Mourinho’s summer rebuild, so take advantage of it.
Because Chelsea hold all the leverage with Fernandez contracted long-term, the ball is in their park to get a deal that suits them and Xabi Alonso.
