Enzo Fernandez has made it clear that he has a desire to play for Real Madrid, however the Chelsea man may now be up against it due to the demands of Jose Mourinho.
Fernandez has dreams of moving to Madrid, and Chelsea’s dismal 2025/26 season will have done them no favours in an effort to keep hold of him.
Even the hiring of Xabi Alonso has not yet changed his mind, and the incoming manager is potentially planning to build his squad without the World Cup winner present.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign Mateus Fernandes before Enzo Fernandez
Fernandez is not in Alonso’s list of untouchables for this summer transfer window, and neither is Marc Cucurella, who is also being linked with a move away.
Madrid are seen as one of the three sides who could afford Fernandez, but it looks as if Jose Mourinho is eyeing a different midfield target.

Mateus Fernandes is attracting a lot of attention from Europe’s top sides this summer, after his West Ham side were relegated from the Premier League.
According to AS, Mourinho is obsessed by the idea of signing the Portuguese star, getting super agent Jorge Mendes to start work on the signing.
This transfer will not come cheap. Chelsea have previously been quoted £80m to sign him from West Ham.
This will take a significant amount out of Madrid’s budget, and signing another midfielder would throw real doubt over whether they also bring in the Chelsea man.

Possible other destinations for Fernandez
If Fernandez makes it clear he does not want to return to Chelsea after the World Cup, the most realistic landing spot for him would be Manchester City.
Enzo Maresca is set to be announced as their new manager, and got the best out of the Argentine when they were both at Stamford Bridge.
City are also on the hunt for different midfielders, and are expected to make a bid for Elliot Anderson in the coming weeks.
The number of options are running out for Fernandez, and he may have to make the uncomfortable move back into the Chelsea side after making it clear he wants to depart.
