Chelsea will reportedly engage in fresh contract talks with their player Mason Mount soon.
Ben Chilwell signed a new deal at Chelsea this week to keep him at the club until 2027. Unfortunately, his first appearance since extending his stay saw him pick up a red card in the 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid last night in the Champions League.
It now sounds like Mason Mount is up next on the Blues agenda.
The Daily Mail recently claimed that Mount would be one of ‘the easiest players’ for Chelsea to sell.
Journalist Simon Phillips has now detailed an update on the 24-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge, though.

Reporting on his Substack, Phillips has claimed that Chelsea will “soon” offer Mount a new contract extension and revisit talks about his situation.
It is understood that internal discussions at the club feel like their new potential offer could be more appealing to the attacking midfielder, but there’s still plenty of negotiations to take place on both sides.
Phillips adds that Mount’s contract offer could be “similar” to Chilwell’s extension. He does stress that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be on the same kind of wage, but there will be similarities in the overall deal. There could be differences in things such as bonusses and incentives on offer.

Mount’s future appears to be on standby until the end of the season, which is just around the corner at the end of May.
His current deal expires in the summer of 2024, so we’d rather not allow him to enter the final year of his contract. We have been stung in the past by doing this with the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
It’s hard to know what role Mount will play moving forward when we don’t know who the next permanent manager will be.
However, let’s remember the England international has been the player of the year for the previous two seasons at the Bridge.
