Journalist Ben Jacobs has shared the main difference between what is going on in the Chelsea dressing room right now.
He told GiveMeSport that there is an air of authority from Mauricio Pochettino that was simply not held by his predecessor.
Results have not yet come for Pochettino as Chelsea manager, with pressure already on him after a string of poor results in games that looked extremely winnable on paper.
However, the vibe is still different to how things were last year, when Graham Potter was in charge of the club.
The Englishman is yet to return to management despite being linked with a number of jobs, with his brief time at Chelsea certainly taking a lot out of him.
Jacobs has now shared what the atmosphere is like in the changing room at the club right now, saying it is very different to how it was last season.
Difference between Pochettino and Potter
He said: “He hasn’t at any point lost the dressing room, though. Quite the opposite. There is a real respect for the Chelsea boss, who carries far more authority in the dressing room than Graham Potter.
“Pochettino is well aware of the challenges he faces, and how the club is in a transitional phase. His future, and path to success, will depend on him retaining a positive relationship with Clearlake Capital cofounder Behdad Eghbali (which was not something Thomas Tuchel enjoyed) and ultimately still believing in the project and that it will pay off over time.”
Pochettino will feel as if he has to return to winning ways this weekend in order to ease any form of pressure on him and his staff.
The Blues are welcoming Sheffield United to Stamford Bridge tomorrow, where the manager could finally hand a debut to summer signing Christopher Nkunku after his injury suffered in pre-season.
