Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea fans should not be alarmed at the length of time it is taking for the club to announce Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.
He told ‘The Football Terrace’ that the fact the Argentine doesn’t have an agent plays in to why the process has taken so long.
Pochettino has emerged as the only real candidate for the role at this stage, after numerous others fell to the wayside.
Reports have already emerged about which players the 51-year-old is looking to base his team around in West London.
These have included N’golo Kante and Mason Mount, with him even reportedly telling the club to reopen negotiations regarding the latter’s contract.
Pochettino delay nothing to worry about
Supporters will be beginning to get slightly concerned about the length of time it has taken for the Blues to make an announcement regarding his appointment.
However, Jacobs has claimed that there is nothing to be worried about regarding the length of time things are taking.
He said: “No, there is nothing alarming about the fact that Pochettino hasn’t yet been announced as Chelsea manager. Once you fix upon a candidate and advance on those talks, if he’s coming in at the end of next season there doesn’t need to be a rush.
“Pochettino is agentless too, so traditionally what he does is negotiate his backroom staff contracts and his own contract and that can take a bit of time. Pochettino wants to be crystal clear on what he is walking in to, in terms of what has already been planned.”
It was claimed early this week that an announcement could be made in the coming days, meaning it will likely not be long before there is news the Blues fans have been waiting for.
