Frank Lampard has told the Chelsea squad in training that he’s there to support them until the end of the season.

Following the sacking of Graham Potter, Frank Lampard agreed to step in as Chelsea’s interim manager until the summer.

The Blues icon is back at Stamford Bridge yet again, this time to try lift a struggling group during what lies for the rest of the campaign.

It’s very bleak for Chelsea domestically, sitting 11th in the Premier League, but there is still a Champions League carrot dangling in the air. Lampard’s side take on Real Madrid tomorrow night in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final.

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly, 31, has shared the message from Lampard in training to the entire squad.

“We know he is a legend here and he has already trained half of the team,” Kalidou Koulibaly told BBC Sport.

“The situation is like this for the moment, but in training he has been saying he will support us until the end and help us to be out of this situation.”

The Athletic claimed yesterday that Chelsea are still expected to replace Lampard next season with a permanent manager.

Lampard, 44, has stepped in on a temporary basis to help out the Blues, who are searching to find Potter’s long-term successor.

Can Lampard convince the club to change their minds with a miraculous run in the Champions League, though? Stranger things have happened at this club before!
