Key figures at Chelsea are starting to believe they need to upgrade their 22-year-old player

Reports have claimed that some key figures at Chelsea are beginning to be left unconvinced by one of their players.

According to the Mail Online, some staff at Stamford Bridge are now of the opinion that they need to sign an upgrade on striker Nicolas Jackson if they want to compete at a seriously high level again.

Jackson is in his first season of Premier League football right now, and actually boasts a goalscoring record a number of big-money counterparts would be proud of right now.

Rasmus Hojlund, a player they reportedly considered over the summer, only has one Premier League goal to his name as we begin the second half of the campaign.

However, it would only be fair to admit that there have been elements of the 22-year-old’s game that have not been good enough so far this season in what has been a disjointed Blues attack.

He is currently representing his country as part of the African Cup of Nations, with the Blues forced to think again to find a solution for some big games this month.

Chelsea thinking of upgrading Jackson

Mauricio Pochettino’s most recent effort to sort things out failed drastically, when his false nine method didn’t work against Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup.

Now, it has been claimed that even when Jackson is available, there are some at the club who already believe he needs upgrading.

The number one reported target for most at the club is Victor Osimhen, however there is an understanding that they will probably have to wait until the summer before they can secure that deal.

Therefore, Jackson may find himself having a few more months to prove to everyone that he can be the answer to lots of his club’s problems. 

He, alongside Armando Broja, could be entering important stages of their Chelsea careers, as Pochettino fights to keep his job in West London.
