Jurgen Klopp has compared Alisson Becker to Chelsea striker Oliver Giroud after the Liverpool goalkeeper scored a last-minute header to secure a comeback win over West Brom.
The goal is bad news for Chelsea. But even some Blues fans would enjoy such a dramatic goal despite its impact on the top-four race.
Speaking after the game, Klopp described Alisson’s goal as the type of goal that only strikers such as Giroud are capable of.
“It’s the best goal I’ve ever seen scored by a goalkeeper!” the Liverpool boss told BBC Sport.
“Strikers score like that.
“If Olivier Giroud scores like that you say it’s a worldie. It’s a worldie! Wow!”
Liverpool’s win on Sunday has increased the pressure on Chelsea who now only have a one-point cushion in the top four.
The Merseyside club also arguably have the easier fixtures (v Burnley and Crystal Palace) ahead of them compared to Chelsea (v Leicester City and Aston Villa).
Fortunately, Chelsea’s top-four destiny is still in their own hands. As long as they win the remaining two fixtures, they will secure a Champions League football next season.
