Frank Lampard will arrive at Chelsea on Thursday and get straight down to work, according to reports.

The rumours around Frank Lampard’s return to Chelsea have moved rapidly in the last 24 hours.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano last night on Twitter, the 44-year-old has accepted terms to return as Chelsea’s interim manager until the end of the season. This is going to allow them more time to conduct interviews and choose the next full-time manager to replace Graham Potter.

Now, fresh claims suggest the legendary Blues figure will turn up at Cobham today.

Journalist Matt Law has shared that Lampard will turn up at Chelsea’s training ground this morning. In fact, “later on” today he’ll be taking his first training session with the squad as the caretaker boss.

Law wrote on Twitter: “Frank Lampard due into Chelsea’s Cobham base later this morning with the expectation he will take his first training session as caretaker manager later on.”

Interestingly, journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali has been one of the main driving forces behind rehiring Lampard.

There is still nothing official on the club website.

We, like every Chelsea fan, will continue to refresh the page while waiting for the official announcement.

It sounds like Chelsea plan to have Lampard in the dugout this Saturday for the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He’s not got long to prepare the Blues for a Premier League fixture in a couple of days time, but he already knows quite a few members of the squad from his first spell in charge. He’s a Chelsea fan as well so we expect he watches us all the time, too.

It’s true that there is very little to play for in the Premier League games, with the club sitting mid-table during what has been a really poor domestic campaign.

However, this weekend is actually really important in preparation for next week’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.
