Chelsea’s Levi Colwill has explained that he absolutely loves playing under Enzo Maresca, who’s the latest head coach trying to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca is currently going through plenty of ups and downs during his debut season as the Chelsea manager.
The Blues are still competing to win the Conference League, where they currently lead Copenhagen 2-1 on aggregate during a last-16 tie. Plus, Chelsea sit fifth in the Premier League table during a fascinating race for Champions League qualification.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

Maresca is deemed as ‘untouchable’ at Chelsea because he retains the full support of everyone at the club.
While we do sense some frustration from supporters about the mixed form in 2025, it’s a positive that the Italian boss is supported by those within the building.

Levi Colwill claims Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca thinks about football on a different level
Blues centre-back Colwill has delivered a glowing verdict about Maresca. In fact, he said it’s amazing to be coached by him because of the intelligent way he thinks about football.
“I think with Maresca, the way he thinks about football is light years above everyone else,” Colwill told BBC Football Focus.
“Of course, I have been blessed with loads of different managers that have been amazing.
“He is pushing me to understand football in a different way. That’s why I’m very blessed to play football under him and learn as much as possible.”
Chelsea thinks Maresca is going to the top and can grow into one of the elite managers in the industry.
Ultimately, he’ll be judged externally by what his team produces. As it stands, this season very much still feels like it’s hanging in the balance.

It’s very interesting that rival clubs are impressed by Chelsea and their project, so let’s wait and see if everything comes together on the pitch.

Levi Colwill hails special Chelsea youngsters
During the same interview with BBC, Colwill also shed some light on the excellent work that’s going on at the Chelsea academy. In fairness, the 22-year-old central defender knows all about it because he’s an academy graduate who started out in the youth system before breaking into the first team.
Colwill picked out Blues youngsters Shim Mheuka, Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong as very exciting prospects.
“The treatment you get at Chelsea, they turn you into animals. These players coming up now are different. I don’t know what’s been done there,” Colwill told BBC Football Focus.
“Shim [Shim Mheuka] just made his debut for us. Ty [Tyrique George], he’s just electric and you’ve got Josh [Acheampong] who’s going to be one of the best defenders.”
Even though the club has made a lot of investment to assemble the squad in recent transfer windows, it’s great to see academy products still involved with the first team. In fact, Mheuka and George both started the Blues’ Conference League win over Copenhagen on Thursday.
