Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has claimed he was left very impressed by the performance of Christopher Nkunku in pre-season.
He told ‘The Footballer’s Football Podcast’ that he believes they will be an even better side when he is fit and ready to feature.
The Blues have been forced to begin the campaign without Nkunku after he was forced off injured in their final pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

The moment brought a sour end to what had been overall an extremely positive tour of the United States.
This time away had seen them take on Newcastle in the Premier League Super Series. Eddie Howe’s side last season showed their newfound quality with a top four finish.
Wilson praises Nkunku
However, the Blues showed even at that early stage that they were going to be a different proposition this season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Wilson has said that he was impressed with the France international, and believes he will only strengthen the club when he is fit and firing.

He said: “Chelsea probably just need an out and out striker. They have Jackson who is playing and playing well. They have Nkunku who is injured, once they get him fit he’ll be a force, he played against us in pre-season and looked good.”
Without Nkunku, the Blues picked up a point in their first game of the campaign as they welcomed Liverpool to Stamford Bridge.
Despite not getting the win, Pochettino will be the happier of the two managers after his side were pushing hardest to pick up a winner in their opening fixture.
