The father of one Chelsea star may not actually be too disappointed if the Blues lose the Carabao Cup final today.

Chelsea take on Premier League rivals Liverpool at Wembley this afternoon for a chance to win some silverware.

Levi Colwill is likely to start the game in central defence with Thiago Silva just coming back from a groin injury, and the 20-year-old has told The Guardian that his dad is actually a Liverpool supporter.

He would have been happy the last time these two sides met, which was only a month ago, with the Reds coming out on top after beating his son’s team 4-1 at Anfield.

Chelsea are going to have to put in a much better performance today if they are to have any chance of winning the game.

Levi Colwill’s dad a Liverpool supporter

Colwill has confirmed that his father is a Liverpool fan and that he likes to give him some stick when he has the chance to but never about Steven Gerrard and his infamous slip against Chelsea.

“My dad, Levi, is a real Liverpool fan… he tells me all the news, injuries, the knowledge that fans have that I wouldn’t really know myself,” the central defender said. “No, no. He always looks up to Gerrard so I can never do that [make fun of infamous slip]. But if we beat them, I will give him a bit of stick.

“When I was on loan at Brighton last season and we won 3-0, I gave my dad a bit and he didn’t like it! That was the first time I ever played against Liverpool so to win, especially, you have to give him a bit for it.”

Levi Colwill can help Chelsea to win Carabao Cup

It is such a huge game for Colwill, who is just about to turn 21. The England international is still a very young player; however, he is more than good enough to help Chelsea come out as victors at Wembley.

Colwill proved at Brighton last season and at Chelsea this term that he can play against Premier League opposition.

In fact, one of his best performances in the current campaign came against title holders Manchester City last weekend.

Colwill was excellent at the back alongside Axel Disasi, making 10 clearances during the 1-1 draw at the Etihad (WhoScored). Based on that display alone, he is ready for this afternoon.
