John Terry has been full of praise for Thiago Silva on his Instagram story, claiming he would have loved to play with him at Chelsea.

The Brazilian joined Chelsea two years ago, with him being arguably Frank Lampard’s best signing during his stint as manager of the club.

The 37-year-old realised a life-long dream last season as he won his first Champions League trophy, being part of the best defence the competition has ever seen.

Despite his age, Silva has remained a crucial member of Thomas Tuchel’s backline, following the pair’s time together at both Stamford Bridge and earlier at PSG.

His impressive and timeless defending has drawn praise from one of the club’s best ever, with Terry full of praise for the Brazil international on his Instagram.

When asked by a supporter if he would have liked to partner Silva in defence, he said: “Yes I really do. I love watching him play. He has been unbelievable since Frank signed him. Love him.”

With the big money signings of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz made by Lampard, none have been more influential than the 37-year-old, who has provided the perfect role model for up and coming defenders at the club.

This can be seen as the biggest reason behind Trevoh Chalobah’s development last season, with him regularly pushing for a starting role despite competition from Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Blues fans will be hoping a similar impact could be had on Levi Colwill, as he begins the pre-season tour of America following a successful loan spell at Huddersfield Town.

While rumours of his departure swirling around last week among Premier League interest, supporters will be happy to see the 19-year-old spotted in training, where Silva has also been seen.
