Despite mounting speculation linking Enzo Fernandez with an exit from Stamford Bridge, Manchester City doesn’t look like they’ll be the destination.

Enzo Fernandez may be away at the World Cup with Argentina right now, but that hasn’t stopped the speculation involving the Chelsea midfielder.

Having already been disciplined by Chelsea for flirting with a move, Fernandez’s agent is actively engineering an exit, prompting the Blues to slap a massive £120 million price tag on their vice-captain.

Real Madrid have emerged as the most genuine suitor, with reports suggesting a potential player-plus-cash swap deal involving Eduardo Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain also have an interest in the South American.

It seems as if Manchester City’s pursuit of Elliot Anderson has pretty much halted their interest in Elliot Anderson, according to the Daily Mail.

They state that Man City sources have distanced themselves from the idea of landing Enzo Fernandez.

Manchester City have had a mammoth second bid rejected by Nottingham Forest for England midfielder Elliot Anderson. The package was worth a total of £122 million, featuring £106 million guaranteed up front, but Forest are holding out for a British record £125 million fee before add-ons.

Enzo Fernandez’s Chelsea future isn’t over yet

The dynamic surrounding Enzo Fernandez’s future has created a fascinating dilemma ahead of Xabi Alonso’s arrival as Chelsea manager. Alonso views the Argentine midfielder as a component of his rebuilding project, as one of the leaders at Stamford Bridge.

However, with Fernandez making his desire to leave for Real Madrid or Manchester City clear after a disappointing, European-less campaign, Chelsea find themselves in a difficult situation.

While Alonso’s expertise could undoubtedly elevate Fernandez’s game, forcing an unsettled player to stay rarely has its own risks. Carrying an expensive asset whose commitment is not entirely unquestionable is a toxic risk, especially after all the ups and downs of last season.
