Chelsea were crowned Club World Cup champions following a fine 3-0 victory over PSG, however the post-match celebrations were overshadowed by an unlikely source.

United States president Donald Trump was on hand to hand out winners’ medals to the Chelsea players, whilst also giving over the trophy to club captain Reece James.

There was some confusion when Trump remained present as the Englishman lifted it high in the air, with Cole Palmer’s face summing up exactly how the Chelsea stars were feeling.

James said Trump had praised him after the game, with plenty of figures associated with the club also coming out and celebrating the victory.

Marina Granovskaia sends message to Donald Trump whilst celebrating Chelsea’s Club World Cup win

One of those was former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, who left the club in 2022 as Todd Boehly and co prepared to undertake their bold and adventurous project.

The 50-year-old has kept tabs on things Chelsea-related since she left though. Granovskaia sent a message to Thomas Tuchel after he was announced as the new England manager.

She took to Instagram to post a story with the iconic ‘Blue in the Colour’ song playing in the background, showing James holding the trophy whilst stood alongside the American President.

She said: “Memo to the President – Blue is the colour. Congratulations boys, Congratulations Chelsea!”

Trump is a member of the Republican party in the United States, which are signified by their red colour, hence his choice of tie as the world watched Chelsea triumph.

Granovskaia clashed with Chelsea legend before she left

A close colleague to Roman Abramovich, Granovskaia played an important role in the many signings made by Chelsea during her eight-year tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Working closely with whoever was in charge at the time, she had the opportunity to see club legend Frank Lampard take the reins in the dugout after his playing career came to an end.

The two didn’t see eye-to-eye on everything though, and Lampard and Granovskaia clashed over the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the manager wanting to move on.

The club chief got her way and the big-money goalkeeper remained at the club, with him only permanently leaving this summer to join Arsenal.
