Mason Mount and Reece James joined other members of the Chelsea family in sending messages of support to Timo Werner after his World Cup dream came to an end.
Werner announced on his Instagram that he would not be attending the tournament in Qatar due to sustaining an injury in RB Leipzig’s last game.
The 26-year-old old looked certain to represent Germany prior to picking up the ankle problem, having rediscovered his form at his former club.

After two largely frustrating seasons at Stamford Bridge, the forward re-signed for Leipzig in the summer in a deal worth £25m (Sky Sports), nearly half the price Chelsea forked out for him in the first place.
For all parties, aside from the Blues’ bank balance, the move was a smart one.
Since returning to the Bundesliga, Werner has looked like his old self, scoring nine times across all competitions.
Putting this into context, he only managed 11 goals throughout the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign.
Sadly for the speedy attacker, this rich vein of form has come to a premature ending.

Werner to miss the World Cup
In a sadden social media post, Werner explained his injury situation to his followers.
Understandably, there was an outburst of sympathetic responses to this update.
Both James and Mount wished their former colleague well, as did current Chelsea stars Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz.
James and Chilwell will certainly be feeling Werner’s pain, as they are both in a race against time to be fit for the World Cup.
