Lewis Hall became the latest player to leave Chelsea this summer by completing a move to Newcastle United.

Lewis Hall, 18, has joined Premier League rivals Newcastle on a season-long loan, with the deal also including an option to buy (confirmed by Chelsea’s official website).

The versatile youngster has spent 12 years on the books at Chelsea and been a huge success story to rise through the academy, but he’ll continue the next part of his development at St James’ Park.

We’re not too surprised to hear reports from The Athletic that some Chelsea insiders are fairly upset that Hall has left the club.

Hall uploaded a goodbye message on Instagram to Chelsea on Tuesday night after his Newcastle move became official. It certainly seemed like a permanent farewell despite the fact his deal is initially a loan one.

Mason Mount, who also left Chelsea this summer to join Manchester United, posted a three-word reaction in the comment section.

“Good luck brother,” Mount wrote.

The frustration within the Chelsea fanbase definitely exists when it comes to getting rid of academy graduates this summer.

Mount’s sale to United is the high-profile one that stunned the supporters. We doubt the Hall news will go down much better, either.

Thankfully, Chelsea do still have a core of youngsters in the first team to come out of the academy at Cobham.

In particular, Reece James has become the official club captain this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

We definitely feel like Hall and Mount could have been key figures if given the chance in a Pochettino line-up, but they’ve gone elsewhere to try further their respective careers.
