Chelsea youngster Alfie Gilchrist is a player the fanbase are talking about after his recent breakthrough.
Alfie Gilchrist, who’s come through the Chelsea academy, has played the first two senior games of his career in the last week.
The 20-year-old defender has been used as a late substitute in back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Luton Town in the Premier League.
Hopefully, he’ll soon get to make his first ever start in the first team. We’re eyeing this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Preston as a possible opportunity for Mauricio Pochettino to start him.

John Terry relationship
Chelsea youngster Gilchrist has shared that he’s got a friendship with one of the club’s greatest ever players: John Terry.
In fact, Blues legend Terry messaged the 20-year-old recently after his first-team appearance. It’s great to hear that there’s regular contact between the two.
Gilchrist said via Chelsea’s official website: “I speak to John Terry quite a bit because he worked with me in the academy. He messaged me straight away after the game saying he was so happy for me. That’s my idol growing up, so being able to play for the club he played for when I was watching him all the time is just massive for me.”

There can’t be many greater feelings as a Chelsea youngster than receiving advice from Terry, who’s for many people the very best to play at Stamford Bridge.
On top of the special career, Terry’s path from academy to first team at Chelsea makes him the perfect mentor for the youth of today.
Let’s hope Gilchrist is the next big success story from Cobham.
The central defender is a colossus in Chelsea’s Under-21s team. We’ve actually seen him at right-back in his senior cameo displays, though.
Gilchrist should continue to pick the brain of Terry at any opportunity. Also, Gilchrist admitted a few month ago that he’s had advice from senior Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva.
