Chelsea are looking to bring in another new attacker this summer in the form of Xavi Simons, however one journalist believes they’d rather bring in a different name this summer.
The Blues are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential deal, as the Bundesliga side target Carney Chukwuemeka to potentially go the other way.
Leipzig want to make a profit on Simons this summer after only permanently signing him back in January, but seem resigned to the fact that he will be departing this summer.
The Dutchman has not been the only attacking player who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge even since the Blues won the Club World Cup less than two weeks ago.

Matt Law thinks Chelsea would rather sign Morgan Rogers than Xavi Simons
One of those who has been linked throughout the summer is Morgan Rogers, with it being well-known he has a close relationship with Cole Palmer.
Rogers publicly congratulated Palmer on their Conference League win back in May, and Chelsea fans have been really excited about the prospect of the two playing together at Stamford Bridge.
This is certainly a prospect that has been considered by the Blues, and Matt Law believes that Rogers would actually be the club’s dream signing in attack.
He said to the ‘London is Blue’ podcast: “I still think in Chelsea’s absolute dream-perfect scenario they’d probably sign Morgan Rogers, and they’re definitely still interested in Morgan Rogers.
“But the issue they’ve got is he is the one player that Villa are telling everyone, ‘No, we’re not selling him.’ Now, everyone has a price, but clearly the price would have to be astronomically high.”

Morgan Rogers vs Xavi Simons stats
Rogers played in considerably more games during the 2024/25 season, however the record between both in terms of goals and assists is pretty close.
| Morgan Rogers vs Xavi Simons 24/25 | Morgan Rogers | Xavi Simons |
| Games | 54 | 33 |
| Goals | 14 | 11 |
| Assists | 15 | 8 |
The addition of Simons could see Palmer pick up a new role in the attack, one that is more similar to when he was playing under Mauricio Pochettino.
He featured heavily off the right in that season, and showed glimpses that this could still be his best role with an excellent display in the Club World Cup final.
The Dutchman is seen as the most likely addition at this stage, and the Blues are looking to go Double Dutch with the signing of Jorrel Hato too.
