Mauricio Pochettino is already a big fan of Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell.
That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.
Phillips has claimed on his Substack today that Mauricio Pochettino really likes Ben Chilwell following the first week and a half of pre-season.
It is understood that the 26-year-old full-back is one of the options to be the next club captain.
In addition, he reports that the England international is expected to be the first-choice left-back at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, he’ll be a key player next season for Pochettino’s new-look team.
Apparently, Chelsea have no plans to sell their £50million (Sky Sports) star.

We’re not overly surprised to hear Pochettino has quickly taken a liking to Chilwell, who’s a talented left-back with great energy and quality.
When fit and firing, Chilwell is definitely our pick as the best left-back at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino’s history suggests he relies heavily on his full-backs, so it’s great news for certain individuals in the Chelsea squad.
Former Blues manager Graham Potter described Chilwell as “fantastic” while working with him (Football.London).

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard has claimed on Twitter that Chilwell has emerged as one of Chelsea’s best performers so far in pre-season when it comes to running tests.
Everything fits for him to do well in the 2023/24 season!
