Mauricio Pochettino has already decided which formation he’s looking to deploy at Chelsea for this upcoming season.
That is according to a report from The Athletic.
They claim that Mauricio Pochettino, 51, is likely to implement his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation at Stamford Bridge.
The new Blues head coach has enjoyed great success in the past deploying the formation, mainly at London rivals Tottenham.
Chelsea fans couldn’t keep up with the amount of changes in system last season, so it would be fantastic to find some real consistency in the Blues line-up.
The Athletic says that Chelsea have already started with some early tactical work, with the 4-2-3-1 formation the road they’re going down.
It is explained that the system will allow the full-backs to push high, which should be music to the ears of Blues stars such as Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
The report adds that the plan is to have a creative No 10 dropping in behind a striker that presses high. Our immediate guess is that new signing Christopher Nkunku could be perfect in a creative position behind Armando Broja or Nicolas Jackson.
It may take some time for the Chelsea pieces to all fit into the jigsaw under Pochettino, but we’re very excited to hear the project he’s mapping out for this squad.

English duo James and Chilwell, who are as good as any of the Premier League’s full-backs when they’re fit and firing, could be perfect for Pochettino’s plans.
Journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed on his Substack that Pochettino has quickly taken a big liking to left-back Chilwell, which doesn’t surprise us in the slightest.
