Reports have claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now been working hard to convince people superior to him at the club to offer one player a new contract.

According to the Mail Online, the boss is insistent that the club offer a new deal for Conor Gallagher, with him approaching the final year of his deal.

Galllagher has been one of the players who Pochettino has relied on the most this season, with it beginning to pay dividends in recent week.

His faith in the England international has been rewarded with three goals in his last two games, including two big ones against his former side Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Finding the net at both ends of the second half, his spirited display helped the Blues come from a goal down to take all three points in the London derby.

However, talk of him being sold has still not disappeared, with his importance to the manager not seeming to overrule the need and desire to bring in pure profit on the books.

This has not stopped the Argentine pushing for him to be offered a new deal, with him reportedly putting the work in privately to get it done.

It remains to be seen whether the Blues can get to a point where they believe they are happy to not sell the academy graduate and instead keep him round the squad for years to come.

This season he has shown that he does not look out of place alongside the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, with the two of them both at the time costing club record fees.

There is a big end to the season to come for Gallagher to convince those that still need it that he should remain at Stamford Bridge.
