Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is making it clear to Chelsea’s directors he does not want one player sold this month.
He took to YouTube to state that the manager is insisting to those in charge just how important Conor Gallagher has been to his side.
It is no secret that those higher up at Stamford Bridge are open to selling Gallagher if the right offer comes in.
It has frequently been claimed that an offer of £50m could be enough for the Blues to part ways with a player who has started every game he has been available for this season.
The Englishman has frequently donned the captain’s armband this season, after Reece James and Ben Chilwell have missed long spells due to injury.
Despite the clear importance to the manager, Romano clarified that they are certainly keen to do business if the right proposal comes in.
Pochettino wants to keep Conor Gallagher
He said: “We are mentioning a midfielder who is out of contract in 2025, so kind of a dangerous situation. From what I’m hearing, the conversation between Chelsea and Conor Gallagher for a new contract is still there. It’s obvious that it is not an easy one, so right now nothing is done, but the conversation is still there.
“We are getting a lot of questions about Tottenham in talks for Conor Gallagher. I’m told guys that there are currently no negotiations between Chelsea and Tottenham for him.
“For Chelsea it remains the same – a very important proposal or nothing, they are happy to continue with him. For Mauricio Pochettino, he is an important player, in al the conversations he is having with the directors, he always mentions Conor Gallagher as an important player.”
It would not be a smart move to sell Gallagher in the middle of a season where he has proven to be a crucial player so far.
Instead, the Blues should look to the summer if they are so keen to part ways with the 23-year-old.
