Mauricio Pochettino reportedly wanted to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher when he was in charge of PSG last January.

According to The Sun, the new manager was a big fan of the midfielder during his loan spell at Crystal Palace.

Monday finally saw Pochettino announced as the new Chelsea boss, with his official duties starting in July.

However, he has already been busy recommending players he would like to keep and sell out of the current Chelsea squad ahead of next season.

The club are safe in the knowledge that they will need to sell a number of players in order to purchase more this summer, following a couple of consecutive big spends.

It has already been claimed that the manager has a plan to integrate a number of homegrown stars into his squad, in a similar style to how he did when he was in charge of Tottenham.

Pochettino previously wanted Gallagher

One of those he has mentioned is reportedly Gallagher, and this is backed up by the fact he was interested in signing him before he had even made his Chelsea debut.

He may run into some competition at the club about keeping hold of him though. They will be safe in the knowledge that he will be the source of plenty of profit given they didn’t spend any money on bringing him through.

Pochettino is already set to lose out on one homegrown player that he really wanted to use at Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester United, as he looks to try and force his way out of Chelsea.

The two clubs will still need to come to an agreement on a transfer fee then. The player has just one year left on his contract.
