Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has provided encouraging news this afternoon regarding Trevoh Chalobah.

Blues defender Trevoh Chalobah, 24, has become a forgotten man around Stamford Bridge. That’s because the club’s academy graduate has played zero minutes yet in this 2023/24 season due to injury.

The English centre-back, who can cover at right-back as well, has watched from the sidelines for the entire first half of the season.

Now, there’s a suggestion that he’s finally edging back closer to fitness.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino shared in Friday’s press conference with the media that there’s some good news concerning Chalobah.

The young defender has now rejoined the Blues squad to train with his teammates at Cobahm.

We’re still waiting for an official line on when he may return to action, but it sound like a very positive step has been taken by him.

Pochettino said via Chelsea’s official YouTube account: “The good news is Trevoh Chalobah rejoined the team and started to work with the group. Now we need to assess day-by-day and see if he can help us as soon as possible. He is doing well.”

Trevoh Chalobah back in training

Chalobah’s not been in news lately for anything he’s done on the pitch because he’s been out injured since pre-season. However, his name is still frequently mentioned in the transfer rumour mill.

Now we know he’s back in training with the Blues squad, will the speculation begin to intensify?

TEAMtalk recently reported that Chelsea may allow Chalobah to leave Stamford Bridge for around £25million. This comes amid interest from the likes of Bayern, Tottenham, Roma, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

We still think he can offer plenty to Pochettino’s squad when he’s fully fit, but it should come down to the wishes of the player and the manager.
