Mauricio Pochettino says he’s noticed the quality of ‘very talented’ 22-year-old Chelsea player in training

Mauricio Pochettino claims Chelsea’s Armando Broja has stood out for all the right reasons in training.

Armando Broja, who’s just 22, is an exciting young striker now back fit and available for Chelsea.

The Blues centre-forward made his first start since November in Monday night’s 2-0 Premier League win against Fulham, scoring a first-half goal during an eye-catching performance.

He’s been sidelined for almost a year with a serious knee problem, so it’s fantastic to see him back in games.

Now that he’s returned, he’ll engage in a fascinating battle with teammate Nicolas Jackson for the No 9 position.

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is quite outspoken with glowing praise on Broja.

It’s interesting to hear him point out that the 22-year-old really impresses in training and has such big potential.

When asked if Broja can be a top striker for Chelsea, Pochettino said via Football.London: “Yes, I think we know now for three months when you start to work here and before. You start to feel the player in a training session you can see the potential. I think Broja has amazing potential.

“Now it’s about how he recovers from this injury and long period he was out. He is a very talented player, we trust him, that’s why he played against Fulham and maybe tomorrow. Now he needs time, to feel complete. If not his body, in his mind also. It sometimes also effects your mind.

“He is in a very good mood, a very good way, working really hard and I hope he can improve in the next few weeks and be a player that we really trust.”

If we were put on the spot, we’d lean towards Broja over Jackson for the striker position. It might be worth giving Jackson the start this weekend due to fitness, though.

Paul Merson said this week that Broja will feel like a new signing for Chelsea, as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Some Blues fans feel that the club still need to go out and sign a high-profile striker, but time will tell if they already have the answer in their current quad.
