The Chelsea owners are under immense scrutiny following the Liam Rosenior saga, and now fellow former manager Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about his disappointment in the likes of Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly.
Chelsea are on the lookout for their sixth permanent manager since BlueCo took over the club after parting ways with Liam Rosenior after just three months.
The Englishman does not deserve all the blame for the woeful 2026 endured by the club so far, although it cannot be argued he failed to reach the heights set when Enzo Maresca was in charge.
Out of the managers we have been linked with, which one do you think might be able to get the very best out of Cole Palmer again?👀
Mauricio Pochettino left ‘disappointed’ Chelsea owners didn’t fulfil their promise to him
The Italian brought trophies back to Stamford Bridge after they had not been able to get over the line when Mauricio Pochettino led them to Wembley twice.
Pochettino has been speaking to Stick to Football, and discussed his relationship with the Chelsea owners during his 12 months in charge of the club.

He spoke about how he believed their visions didn’t align, and they didn’t fulfil their promise of letting him build the squad.
He said: “Why I think I am disappointed with the internal things is that under our assessment and our vision, it was a normal process, to create something solid for the future. To assess things and to add quality, but not as quick like the people believed.
“The pace wasn’t that. If you see the things, we finished sixth, winning the last five or six games. We’ve arrived to the final of the Carabao Cup.
“We played the semifinal of FA Cup against Manchester City that we, in both games we deserve to go through one, to win the final, another go through, but because of an experience or because different things, we didn’t win, but we were in a very good way.
“But after when things don’t match what was our vision, we said it’s better to split, it’s better not to, and to give the possibility to the club to do what they want to do.”
Xabi Alonso is the BEST candidate for the Chelsea job 👌
Chelsea’s ongoing hunt for a new manager
The club are in no rush to hire a new permanent manager. Calum McFarlane has shown he is capable of leading the squad for now following the 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win against Leeds United.
Reports have stated that Xabi Alonso is emerging as one of the leading candidates for the job. He has been out of work since departing Real Madrid earlier this season.
The club also have a number of Premier League names on their shortlist, with Eghbali preferring a move for Andoni Iraola when he leaves Bournemouth this summer.
Oliver Glasner, Eddie Howe and Marco Silva have also been mentioned if the Blues decide they would rather hire someone with experience in the league already.
