Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is going to personally block bids for one Chelsea player if they come in January.

According to The Telegraph, the boss will not allow Conor Gallagher to leave the club despite the lack of resolution regarding his contract status at the club.

Gallagher’s current deal is set to expire at the end of next season, and there have been reportedly no real efforts to offer him one to extend as of yet.

This is despite him being arguably the best performer of the season, in a midfield which includes the two most expensive in their position in football history.

No Chelsea player has assisted a teammate more often than the Englishman, and his good form has seen him very quickly become a favourite for Pochettino and his staff.

He has been an ever-present in the Premier League squad this season, clearly showing that the manager has a lot of trust in what he can provide on the pitch.

However, this good form has not put an end to talk that he could be on the move still, with there being plenty of reports that the Blues are entertaining offers for him.

They were reportedly pushing for £50m over the summer, however any interest from the likes of Tottenham did not generate this amount.

It feels as if those higher up at the club see an opportunity to make some serious profit on the academy graduate, with it of course being all profit on the books for the club.

It seems that after the sale of Mason Mount last summer, no player is off limits when it comes to balancing the books to counteract their big spending.
