Chelsea defender Levi Colwill says two of his team-mates are really helping him after the Blues’ 2-0 win against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Levi Colwill started the game and helped Chelsea to earn a clean sheet, and the 20-year-old has now told the club’s official website that he is getting a lot of support from two other members of Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad.

With Colwill playing in a new position this season, left-back, the England international is having to learn a lot of new things.

However, it looks like he is getting plenty of help from a couple of his team-mates.

Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva helping Levi Colwill

Colwill says Benoit Badiashile and Thiago Silva have been a big help for him as he continues to adapt to playing at left-back.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United, he said: “I keep always saying, I’m still learning a new position. After each game, I’m taking things away, which I’m very happy with. It will help me in the future and yeah, I’ve just got to keep helping the team.

“Even playing next to Badiashile, with both of them [Badiashile and Silva] there, they help me so much and I’d like to say that I help just as much. Just talking and you just pick new things up playing there and it means the world to me.”

Can Levi Colwill master the left-back position?

Colwill is doing a pretty good job there and at 20, he obviously has plenty of time to learn all the ins and outs of the role.

Working under an excellent coach like Pochettino as well, there is no reason why he cannot become a top left-back based on what he has shown so far.

Being a natural centre-back, though, there are question marks over his attacking ability. Can he dribble, cross and set up goals like how most elite full-backs can in this day and age? We have not seen too much of that from Colwill yet.

But defensively, there have not been too many shaky moments.

However, with there being a possibility that Silva leaves Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, there is a chance that Pochettino moves Colwill back to his normal position for the 2024/25 campaign.
